Press Box Chronicles

In 2025 I was approached by a production company, 3Point0 Labs, about hosting a weekly YouTube sports series. The result is Press Box Chronicles, a joyful experience that has allowed me to tell stories and engage with audiences. We recently cleared 60,000 subscribers, and we have four corporate sponsors. I both serve as host and write/research the episodes.

Two Writers Slinging Yang

Way back in 2017 I thought it'd be fun to try and starting a podcast about writing. I didn't really know what I was doing or how to go about it, but over the past nine years Two Writers Slinging Yang has come to average roughly 2,000 listeners per episode. The show features a weekly conversation with a different writer, and we're up to more than 450 episodes. I am a one-man show—I produce, write, interview, editor. It's both a labor of love and a golden opportunity to learn from other professionals. Past guests include Jimmy Kimmel, Susan Orlean, Richard Marx, Sally Jenkins and Gary Smith.

Apartment 515

When my son Emmett was in pre-school, one of the other parents was a man who, it turns out, murdered his wife, then tried selling off his daughter to drug kingpins in Mexico. I pitched this as an eight-part episodic podcast, and in 2021 Audible allowed me to pursue/create what became "Apartment 515."

Finding Sexy Sweat

Circuit, Oil on canvas 200cm x 130cm

In the summer of 1993, I worked as an intern at The (Nashville) Tennessean. I was lodged on the campus of Tennessee State University, and my roommate was an aspiring rapper/writer from Oakland named Reginald Payne. His rap moniker was "Sexy Sweat." Decades later, Reggie vanished, and iHeart allowed me and USA Today's Rick Jervis the chance to team up and find out what went tragically wrong.
